Nose
Expressive and complex bouquet of ripe red and black fruits, liquorice and balsamic notes, with layered spice and a subtle smoky nuance from extended French oak ageing.
Palate
Rich, polished mouthfeel with fruit-forward depth and lively acidity keeping the wine fresh and balanced. Smooth, ripe tannins provide structure without grip, delivering a full-bodied yet approachable mid-palate.
Finish
Long, lingering finish with persistent dark fruit, warm spice and a gentle toasted oak echo. The well-integrated tannins lend age-worthiness and suggest a comfortable drinking window of three to four additional years.
Trus Tinto Crianza is the flagship expression of Bodegas Trus, a château-style winery established in 1999 entirely surrounded by its own vineyards in Ribera del Duero — one of Spain's most celebrated red wine appellations. This Magnum 1.5L format scored 93 points from Guía Peñín (2020 vintage), making it a compelling choice for those seeking to buy premium Ribera del Duero red wine online in a format built for both sharing and cellaring.
Produced exclusively from Tinto Fino — the local name for Tempranillo — grown at over 800 metres above sea level on south-southwest-facing plots, the grapes come from up to 14 individually vinified parcels with calcareous, clay and mixed soils. This parcel-by-parcel approach gives the winemaking team granular control over the final blend. Fermentation takes place in large French oak vats, followed by ageing in 225 and 300-litre French oak barrels, fulfilling and exceeding Ribera del Duero Crianza requirements.
The wine pours a deep ruby-garnet with a clean, luminous appearance. On the nose, it is expressive and layered: ripe red and black fruits, liquorice and balsamic nuances meld seamlessly with spice and a delicate smoky note from the oak. The mouthfeel is rich and polished — fruit-forward yet structured, with well-calibrated acidity keeping the wine lively across the palate. The tannins are ripe and smooth, lending body without austerity. The finish is long and warming, with lingering dark fruit, spice and a gentle toasted oak echo.
The Magnum format slows the wine's evolution, extending its drinking window and making it an ideal centrepiece for celebratory dinners. It pairs beautifully with grilled red meats, slow-roasted lamb, game birds and aged sheep's cheese. An age-worthy, terroir-driven Crianza from one of Ribera del Duero's most dedicated estate wineries — available online at Mercado 46 with European delivery.
