Nose

An expressive, wide-ranging bouquet of blackberry, mulberry and forest fruit, lifted by dried rose petals, violet and subtle exotic spice. Characteristically floral and inviting, with the aromatic generosity typical of Nebbiolo from the Langhe hillsides.

Palate

Elegant and well-balanced on the palate, with fine, silky tannins that provide structure without grip. Flavours of ripe dark fruit, floral notes and gentle spice are underpinned by the crisp, refreshing acidity inherent to the calcareous-clay soils of Monforte d'Alba.

Finish

Velvety and persistently mineral on the finish, with a lingering spiced fruit character and satisfying length that reveals the wine's underlying complexity and age-worthiness.

The Parusso Langhe DOC Nebbiolo 2023 is a compelling introduction to one of Piedmont's most respected estates. Crafted by Marco Parusso from vineyards planted at 350–450 metres above sea level in Monforte d'Alba's Ornati and Mosconi crus, this terroir-driven Nebbiolo grows on calcareous-clay soils of marine sedimentary origin — the same geological canvas that gives the Langhe its distinctive mineral backbone and vibrant acidity.

Bottled at 13.5% abv, the 2023 vintage is vinified to highlight freshness and aromatic precision rather than weight, making it an approachable yet age-worthy red wine from Langhe DOC. A score of 91 points from Wine Advocate (and 92 from Wine Enthusiast) underlines the quality and consistency Marco Parusso has achieved here.

On the nose, the wine opens with a fragrant, expansive bouquet of dark fruit — blackberry, mulberry — interwoven with classic Nebbiolo florals: dried rose petals, violet, and a subtle lift of exotic spice. The aromatic profile is both generous and refined, showing none of the austerity that Nebbiolo can sometimes display in its youth.

The mouthfeel is elegant and silky, with fine-grained tannins that render the wine pleasurable from the moment of opening. Mid-palate flavours of red and dark fruit are framed by crisp, Langhe-typical acidity and a gentle spice note that adds depth without heaviness. The finish is velvety and persistently mineral, offering a satisfying length that belies the wine's accessible price point. If you are looking to buy a premium Italian red wine online, this is an outstanding choice.

Best enjoyed at 16°C, opened an hour before serving to allow full aromatic expression. It pairs beautifully with truffle risotto, braised white meats, egg-based pasta dishes, and semi-aged cheeses. With four to five years of cellaring potential, it rewards patience while delivering immediate pleasure — a hallmark of the best Langhe Nebbiolo wines available for European delivery today.

The Winery

Founded in 1990

Parusso is a family winery from Piedmont, Italy, with roots dating back to 1901, when Gaspare Parusso, great-grandfather of the current generation, purchased his first vineyard in the Mariondino parcel in the village of Castiglione Falletto. In 1925, the family expanded their estate with the Rovella farmhouse in the Bussia area of Monforte d'Alba, placing them at the very heart of Piedmontese wine production. The first commercial label was released in 1971 under Armando Parusso's direction. In 1990, his children Marco and Tiziana, trained at the prestigious Alba wine school, formally founded Parusso Armando di Parusso Fratelli, bringing a new dimension of technical precision and territorial sensitivity to the family tradition. Parusso's winemaking philosophy is rooted in a deep respect for the land and nature. The family practices meticulous micro-zoning of their soils, adapting fertilization and pruning methods to the specific characteristics of each individual parcel. Vinification revolves around two fundamental stages: achieving full grape maturity in the vineyard and refining the wines in contact with their natural yeasts, resulting in wines of great expressiveness and authenticity. Nebbiolo is the winery's signature grape variety and the truest expression of the Parusso style. From it come the Langhe DOC Nebbiolo, an elegant and approachable wine enjoyable from its earliest months in bottle, and the Barolo DOCG Perarmando, as well as three prestigious Barolo single-vineyard Crus: Bussia, Mosconi, and Mariondino, each a faithful interpreter of its own terroir. The portfolio is completed by Dolcetto d'Alba DOC Piani Noce, Barbera d'Alba DOC Ornati, Langhe DOC Bianco, and Langhe DOC Sauvignon Blanc Rovella. The estate covers 28 hectares and produces 150,000 bottles annually, of which 55,000 are Barolo.
