Orchidea Blanco Lías is the flagship white wine from Bodegas Inurrieta, a family-owned estate in Falces, DO Navarra, with a compelling claim to fame: it was the pioneering producer to introduce Sauvignon Blanc to the Navarra appellation, helping to secure the variety's official approval within the DO. This is not merely a white wine — it is a statement of terroir-driven winemaking and varietal mastery.

The 2025 vintage is crafted entirely from estate-grown Sauvignon Blanc, cultivated in a sheltered microvalley traced by the Arga River, where the interplay of warm days and cool nights encourages slow, aromatic ripening while preserving the variety's natural acidity. After fermentation, the wine ages sur lies in stainless steel tanks for several months, a step that builds silky mouthfeel and textural depth without dimming the wine's bright, expressive character.

On the nose, the bouquet is immediately captivating: ripe pineapple, passion fruit and pink grapefruit mingle with classic Sauvignon signatures of boxwood and freshly cut grass, creating an aromatic profile that is both complex and inviting. The palate is where the sur lies ageing truly shines — a creamy, rounded texture cushions the crisp acidity, delivering a fruit-forward, well-structured mid-palate with excellent freshness. The finish is clean and lingering, leaving behind impressions of juicy tropical fruit and a refreshing citrus edge.

This is a supremely food-friendly white wine. Pair it with fresh seafood, oysters on the half shell, light fish carpaccio, soft-rind cheeses or vegetable-based dishes. It also performs beautifully as a standalone aperitif for those who appreciate expressive, terroir-driven whites.

The Winery

Founded in 1999

Bodegas Inurrieta was established in 1999 with the planting of its first vineyards in Falces, in the heart of the Ribera Alta area of Navarra. Yet its roots run far deeper: the Antoñana family carries over a century of winemaking heritage, and the name Inurrieta pays homage to the land where their ancestors cultivated vines nearly a hundred years ago, a tribute to the generations that came before. The winery's defining philosophy is unequivocal: be a winegrower first and a winemaker second. This translates into absolute control over raw materials, with 275 hectares of estate vineyards surrounding the winery — a unique achievement in Navarra. These vineyards lie within a microvalley crossed by the Arga river, featuring three distinct soil types at elevations ranging from 300 to 500 metres above sea level, lending the wines a complexity and character that are authentically Navarran. The grape varieties cultivated include Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha, Graciano, Syrah and Merlot. Inurrieta is a pioneer in Navarra for Sauvignon Blanc, having introduced it on an experimental basis; it is now an authorised variety within D.O. Navarra, largely thanks to the outstanding wines the winery has produced from it. A certain transgressive spirit — an eagerness to forge new paths — runs through the entire portfolio: from the crisp Inurrieta Orchidea to the singular Laderas de Inurrieta — a 100% Graciano awarded Double Gold at the SAKURA Japan Women's Wine Awards — along with Altos de Inurrieta Reserva, Inurrieta Norte, Inurrieta Sur, Inurrieta Coral, Inurrieta Mediodía, Inurrieta Mimao, Inurrieta Puro Vicio and Inurrieta Orchidea Cuvée. The winery has earned numerous international accolades, including nine awards at the CWSA in China — four of them gold medals — and gold medals at Mundus Vini 2019, cementing its status as one of D.O. Navarra's most innovative producers.
