DecantingNot necessary

Haton Réserve is the signature cuvée from Champagne Haton, a family-owned maison with viticultural roots stretching back to the fifteenth century and based in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne. Under the stewardship of Jean-Noël and Sébastien Haton — with the fourth generation now actively involved — this house has steadfastly pursued a single ambition: crafting age-worthy, terroir-driven Champagnes that speak clearly of their origins.

The blend is a classic triumvirate: 35% Chardonnay for tension and finesse, 35% Pinot Noir for structure and depth, and 30% Pinot Meunier for roundness and approachability. Sourced from Premier Cru vineyards including Hautvillers and Cumières, as well as other carefully selected Marne Valley plots, the wine undergoes a minimum of three years ageing on its lees before disgorgement — well beyond the AOC requirement — resulting in a notably refined mousse and layered complexity.

On the nose, Haton Réserve opens with generous notes of white peach, citrus zest and orange blossom, before giving way to more autolytic characters of toasted hazelnut and a whisper of sweet spice. The mouthfeel is full and generous, with creamy mid-palate weight that mirrors the aromatic richness of the bouquet. The finish is clean, lingering and minerally, underpinned by the chalky freshness that is the hallmark of great Champagne terroir.

For those looking to buy Haton Réserve Champagne online, this is an outstanding introduction to one of the Vallée de la Marne's most respected independent houses. A genuinely food-friendly premium sparkling wine from France, equally at home as an aperitif or alongside a carefully composed menu.

Pair with oysters, langoustines, smoked salmon, fine charcuterie or soft-rind cheeses. Serve chilled between 6–8°C in a tulip glass to fully appreciate its aromatic complexity and persistent bead. European delivery available.

The Winery

Founded in 1928

Champagne Haton is one of the most deeply rooted family houses in the Champagne region, with viticultural origins dating back to 1610 when François Haton acquired the first parcels in Damery under the reign of Louis XIII. However, it was in 1928 that Octave Haton truly established the winery as a producing estate, beginning to vinify his own champagnes and setting the foundation for the house as we know it today. Under the stewardship of his heir René Haton, the house experienced a remarkable rise in the 1970s, and today it is Jean-Noël Haton and his son Sébastien — the third and fourth generations — who lead production across 60 hectares of vineyards, 45 of which are family-owned, spread across six emblematic villages in the Marne Valley: Damery, Hautvillers, Cumières, Boursault, Fleury la Rivière, and Vauciennes. The philosophy of the house follows the motto of founder Octave Haton: "Perfection requires mastery of every detail. It is the expression of the whole that makes an exceptional Champagne." Guided by this principle, Jean-Noël and Sébastien work with traditional and meticulous methods: respect for the soil, controlled yields, pursuit of optimal ripeness, and parcel-by-parcel vinification, always driven by a quest for excellence. Among their most celebrated cuvées is the Cuvée Classic, crafted from 60% Pinot Meunier and 40% Pinot Noir, offering aromas of red currant, stone fruits, and citrus; and the Cuvée Réserve, which blends all three Champagne varieties into a harmonious expression featuring white peach, orange blossom, and hazelnut. The range is completed by an elegant Blanc de Blancs from 100% Chardonnay, a Rosé, the Noble Vintage, and the Brut Intense Extra. Their Brut Reserve has earned 91 points from Wine Spectator, and the house has accumulated international recognition including silver medals at the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships and the International Wine Challenge, firmly establishing Haton as a benchmark for timeless, characterful champagne.
