Nose
Pale gold with a fine, persistent bead. Delicate aromas of rose blossom and acacia open to bright citrus notes of orange and mandarin; with aeration, hints of cinnamon, dried flowers, roasted coffee and a gentle toasty complexity emerge.
Palate
Fresh, creamy mouthfeel with superb balance between crisp acidity and roundness. Floral and honeyed mid-palate with an integrated structure that feels both lively and richly textured — characteristic of extended lees ageing.
Finish
Long, elegant, and softly spiced finish with lingering floral and honeyed notes that persist with remarkable refinement and grace.
Haton Blanc de Blancs is a statement of Chardonnay's finest expression in Champagne — a single-varietal cuvée crafted by the Haton family, whose winemaking heritage in Damery, Marne Valley, stretches back to the 17th century. Founded as a Champagne house in 1920, today run by the third and fourth generations, Haton remains one of the most respected family-owned estates in the appellation, managing 25 hectares of prime vineyards across several renowned villages.
This Blanc de Blancs undergoes extended lees ageing of four to six years, a commitment that elevates it well beyond the category standard and imparts a richness of texture rarely found outside prestige cuvées. The chalky, limestone-rich soils of the Marne Valley lend the Chardonnay grapes their hallmark precision and minerally backbone — a terroir-driven character that runs through every sip.
In the glass, it pours a luminous pale gold with an exceptionally fine and persistent bead. The bouquet is both refined and inviting: white flowers — acacia, rose blossom — give way to bright citrus notes of orange and mandarin, with secondary aromas of cinnamon, dried petals, roasted coffee, and a gentle toasty complexity that speaks to its time on lees. On the palate, the mouthfeel is creamy and fresh simultaneously, with a beautifully balanced structure. Floral and honeyed mid-palate notes carry through to a long, elegant, and softly spiced finish that lingers with characteristic Chardonnay grace.
This is a champagne that rewards contemplation as much as celebration. It pairs brilliantly with oysters, langoustines, and delicate seafood preparations, as well as soft-rind cheeses like Brie de Meaux and fine smoked salmon. An outstanding aperitif in its own right. The Winery
Founded in 1928
Champagne Haton is one of the most deeply rooted family houses in the Champagne region, with viticultural origins dating back to 1610 when François Haton acquired the first parcels in Damery under the reign of Louis XIII. However, it was in 1928 that Octave Haton truly established the winery as a producing estate, beginning to vinify his own champagnes and setting the foundation for the house as we know it today. Under the stewardship of his heir René Haton, the house experienced a remarkable rise in the 1970s, and today it is Jean-Noël Haton and his son Sébastien — the third and fourth generations — who lead production across 60 hectares of vineyards, 45 of which are family-owned, spread across six emblematic villages in the Marne Valley: Damery, Hautvillers, Cumières, Boursault, Fleury la Rivière, and Vauciennes. The philosophy of the house follows the motto of founder Octave Haton: "Perfection requires mastery of every detail. It is the expression of the whole that makes an exceptional Champagne." Guided by this principle, Jean-Noël and Sébastien work with traditional and meticulous methods: respect for the soil, controlled yields, pursuit of optimal ripeness, and parcel-by-parcel vinification, always driven by a quest for excellence. Among their most celebrated cuvées is the Cuvée Classic, crafted from 60% Pinot Meunier and 40% Pinot Noir, offering aromas of red currant, stone fruits, and citrus; and the Cuvée Réserve, which blends all three Champagne varieties into a harmonious expression featuring white peach, orange blossom, and hazelnut. The range is completed by an elegant Blanc de Blancs from 100% Chardonnay, a Rosé, the Noble Vintage, and the Brut Intense Extra. Their Brut Reserve has earned 91 points from Wine Spectator, and the house has accumulated international recognition including silver medals at the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships and the International Wine Challenge, firmly establishing Haton as a benchmark for timeless, characterful champagne.
