Nose

Intensely aromatic and fresh on the nose, with ripe white peach, crisp citrus and delicate white blossom leading the bouquet. Characteristic Verdejo herbal notes — fennel, fresh grass and a hint of anise — add complexity and a sense of place.

Palate

Light, lively and refreshingly balanced on the palate. The natural crisp acidity provides structure and energy, while a gentle, pleasant bitterness typical of the Verdejo variety adds a sophisticated tension to the mid-palate.

Finish

Long, round and elegantly persistent on the finish. Herbaceous echoes of fennel and bay leaf linger gracefully, leaving a clean, fresh and very characterful aftertaste.

Equis 2025 is the purest expression of Verdejo from Nidia, a family-owned estate in the heart of DO Rueda. Planted on the La Cabaña estate at over 770 metres above sea level, on calcareous soils laced with rounded pebbles and fed by the nearby Adaja river, these vines produce a white wine that is refreshingly transparent — no frills, no artifice, just varietally expressive Verdejo at its finest.

The continental climate of the Castilian plateau is key to the character of this wine. Warm, dry summers give the Verdejo grapes full phenolic ripeness, while the sharp diurnal temperature swings preserve the natural acidity and aromatic intensity that make this variety so compelling. Night-time harvesting ensures the fruit arrives at the winery cool and pristine, with every aromatic nuance intact.

In the glass, Equis 2025 pours a pale straw yellow with greenish highlights. The bouquet is immediately inviting: white peach, fresh citrus and apple blossom lead the way, underpinned by the characteristic herbal notes of Verdejo — fennel, fresh herbs and a whisper of anise. On the palate, the mouthfeel is light and lively, with bright crisp acidity lifting the mid-palate and a gentle, pleasantly grippy bitterness that is the hallmark of the variety. The finish is clean, lingering and herbaceous, with fennel and bay leaf echoing long after the last sip.

This is a food-friendly, terroir-driven white that shines alongside fresh shellfish, grilled sea bass, light pasta dishes or a selection of young cheeses. Whether as an aperitif or paired with a leisurely meal, Equis 2025 delivers effortless pleasure. Buy this premium Spanish white wine online at Mercado 46 and enjoy European delivery.

The Winery

Founded in 2010

Bodegas Nidia is a small family-run project located on the La Cabaña estate in Medina del Campo (Valladolid), within the Rueda Denominación de Origen. The vineyard's history dates back to 1988, when the family committed to viticulture on this property. However, it was not until 2010 that young winemaker Daniel Torío began commercially producing wines under the Nidia label, driven by his belief in the exceptional potential of the family's vines. The La Cabaña terroir is a defining element: clay soils with the presence of rounded pebbles and high calcium content, situated close to the Adaja River at an altitude of over 770 metres. The continental climate, with significant diurnal temperature variations, combined with vineyards planted during the 1980s and 1990s and tended with meticulous care over the decades, provides the outstanding raw material that shapes every Nidia wine. The philosophy at Nidia is clear and uncompromising: to craft special, authentic, and 100% varietal wines. In the winery, tradition is combined with the latest technological advances, favouring slow fermentations of approximately 20 days at controlled temperatures between 14 °C and 15 °C, to preserve the full fruity character and varietal expression of each vintage. Among the most celebrated wines is Nidia de Guarda, a 100% Verdejo aged on its lees from vines over 30 years old, conceived to showcase the ageing potential of great white wines on a world stage. The range also includes a fresh Verdejo, Sauvignon Blanc, and reds from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2011 vintage firmly established Nidia as one of the finest and most consistent boutique Verdejo producers in Spain, with wines admired for their vibrant aromatic profile, offering orchard fruit and citrus notes intertwined with clean mineral character. A benchmark producer for lovers of Rueda Verdejo at its most expressive.
