“A vibrant, terroir-driven Verdejo from Bodegas Nidia in a generous Magnum — fresh, herbaceous and beautifully expressive of D.O. Rueda.”

Nose
Expressive and vibrant, with notes of white peach, ripe pear and lemon zest interwoven with Verdejo's hallmark herbaceous lift — fennel, bay leaf and fresh grass — plus a delicate thread of white blossom.
Palate
Light and lively on the palate with a characteristic gentle bitterness offset by crisp, natural acidity. Clean, focused and food-friendly with a bright mid-palate and excellent balance.
Finish
Lingering and elegant, with persistent savoury herbal notes — fennel, laurel — that are unmistakably terroir-driven and true to the Verdejo variety.
Equis 2024 Magnum is the large-format expression of Bodegas Nidia's flagship Verdejo, a wine that distils everything compelling about D.O. Rueda into one beautifully unpretentious bottle. Sourced from the family's La Cabaña estate — vines planted in 1988 on gravelly, sandy soils along the Adaja river at over 700 metres elevation — this is a terroir-driven white wine shaped by the extreme diurnal temperature shifts and harsh continental climate of the Castilian plateau.
Nidia's winemaking philosophy is refreshingly straightforward: let the grape speak, respect the raw material, and avoid manipulation. Equis — Spanish for 'X' — is their most approachable expression: fruit-forward, variety-true, and built for immediate pleasure. The Magnum format slows the wine's evolution, preserving freshness and aromatic precision over time, making it an ideal choice for the table.
The nose is immediately expressive: white peach, ripe pear and lemon zest lead the way, interwoven with the variety's signature herbaceous lift — fennel, bay leaf, fresh grass — and a delicate thread of white blossom that adds elegance without weight.
On the palate, the mouthfeel is light and lively, with a characteristic gentle bitterness balanced by crisp, natural acidity. The mid-palate is clean and focused, and the finish lingers with savoury herbal notes that are unmistakably Verdejo. No decanting needed — serve well chilled and enjoy.
Food-friendly and versatile, Equis 2024 pairs beautifully with grilled white fish, fresh shellfish, light vegetable risottos and soft fresh cheeses. The Winery
Founded in 2010
Bodegas Nidia is a small family-run project located on the La Cabaña estate in Medina del Campo (Valladolid), within the Rueda Denominación de Origen. The vineyard's history dates back to 1988, when the family committed to viticulture on this property. However, it was not until 2010 that young winemaker Daniel Torío began commercially producing wines under the Nidia label, driven by his belief in the exceptional potential of the family's vines. The La Cabaña terroir is a defining element: clay soils with the presence of rounded pebbles and high calcium content, situated close to the Adaja River at an altitude of over 770 metres. The continental climate, with significant diurnal temperature variations, combined with vineyards planted during the 1980s and 1990s and tended with meticulous care over the decades, provides the outstanding raw material that shapes every Nidia wine. The philosophy at Nidia is clear and uncompromising: to craft special, authentic, and 100% varietal wines. In the winery, tradition is combined with the latest technological advances, favouring slow fermentations of approximately 20 days at controlled temperatures between 14 °C and 15 °C, to preserve the full fruity character and varietal expression of each vintage. Among the most celebrated wines is Nidia de Guarda, a 100% Verdejo aged on its lees from vines over 30 years old, conceived to showcase the ageing potential of great white wines on a world stage. The range also includes a fresh Verdejo, Sauvignon Blanc, and reds from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2011 vintage firmly established Nidia as one of the finest and most consistent boutique Verdejo producers in Spain, with wines admired for their vibrant aromatic profile, offering orchard fruit and citrus notes intertwined with clean mineral character. A benchmark producer for lovers of Rueda Verdejo at its most expressive.
