Casajús Blanco 2024 is a young white wine crafted by Bodega Casajús in the Ribera del Duero Denominación de Origen, made entirely from Albillo — an ancient indigenous white grape variety that has long called the high plateaus of Castile home. For those looking to buy Casajús Blanco 2024 online, this bottle offers a rare glimpse into a lesser-known but genuinely compelling side of one of Spain's most celebrated wine regions.
Albillo thrives at the altitude and climatic extremes that define Ribera del Duero. Sitting between 700 and 900 metres above sea level, the vineyards experience scorching summer days and dramatically cool nights — a diurnal shift that slows ripening and locks in natural acidity. The result is a white wine with genuine tension, terroir-driven character, and the kind of freshness that lingers.
On the nose, the 2024 vintage opens with inviting white fruit — ripe pear, apple blossom and a subtle citrus lift — underpinned by a delicate stony minerality that speaks directly to the limestone-rich soils of the estate. The palate is bright and focused, with lively acidity that gives structure without austerity. Mouthfeel is light yet layered, carrying flavour with quiet confidence through to a clean, mineral-edged finish with satisfying length.
As a young, unoaked white wine, Casajús Blanco 2024 is best enjoyed without decanting and served well chilled to showcase its natural vivacity. It is a wonderfully food-friendly bottle: pour it alongside grilled sea bass, fresh shellfish, vegetable rice dishes or mild soft cheeses. It also shines as an aperitif, setting an elegant and refreshing tone at the table.
For wine lovers keen to explore premium Spanish whites beyond the usual suspects, this Albillo from Ribera del Duero is an exciting and authentic discovery. Available now at Mercado 46 with European delivery, Casajús Blanco 2024 is a bottle that rewards both curiosity and good taste.

The Winery
Founded in 1993
Bodegas Casajús is an independent family winery located in Quintana del Pidio, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero Denominación de Origen, in the province of Burgos, Spain. Its history stretches back several generations: the grandparents of José Alberto Calvo Casajús and his wife Leonor planted their vineyards in 1920, establishing a viticultural legacy that remains the foundation of the estate today. It was not until 1993 that José Alberto Calvo Casajús formally founded Bodegas J.A. Calvo Casajús, bringing to life a project that harmoniously combines family tradition with modern winemaking techniques. The winemaking philosophy at Casajús is rooted in an artisanal approach and deep respect for terroir. José Alberto champions traditional viticulture as a starting point, seeking to identify and preserve the unique characteristics of the place of origin. The winery tends twenty hectares of vineyards, primarily planted with the native Tinta del País variety, with vines over fifty years old, imparting genuine complexity and territorial expression to the wines. Despite being equipped with state-of-the-art technology, a family spirit permeates every stage of the production process. Among its most celebrated wines stands NIC, the winery's flagship, whose production began in 2004. The name is an acronym of the names of José Alberto's children, Nicolás and Catalina, and represents the ultimate expression of the estate. The NIC 2009 was awarded 97 points by Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, while Casajús Viñedos Antiguos received 95 points. In 2013, the winery earned the highest scores in Ribera del Duero awarded by British critic Neal Martin in that same publication. The Casajús range includes labels such as Barrica 6 Meses, Crianza, Reserva, Finca Doña Len, Valdipio, Splendor Rosado, Blanco, Vendimia Seleccionada, and Antiguos Viñedos, reflecting the richness and diversity of a family project with true international standing.
