Barbadillo Rosé 2023 is a testament to what southern Spain's Atlantic coast can achieve beyond its celebrated fortified wines. Crafted by the historic Bodegas Barbadillo under the Vinos de la Tierra de Cádiz IGP, this vibrant rosé brings together Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon — two varieties that thrive on the chalky albariza soils surrounding Sanlúcar de Barrameda, delivering a wine of genuine character and effortless drinkability.

True to Barbadillo's philosophy of end-to-end quality control, the grapes are harvested to preserve maximum aromatic freshness. The wine sees no oak, allowing the fruit to speak clearly and the region's Atlantic influence — over 300 days of sunshine tempered by sea breezes — to shape a rosé that feels both sun-warmed and refreshingly crisp.

On the nose, the bouquet is immediately inviting: violet blossom, rose petals and zesty citrus weave around notes of fresh cherry and red berry. There is a delicate minerally lift that speaks to the albariza terroir. On the palate, the mouthfeel is generous yet light-footed, with a juicy mid-palate driven by ripe strawberry and a line of bright acidity that keeps everything lively and focused. The finish is persistent and pleasantly floral, with a lingering citrus note that makes the glass hard to put down.

This is a food-friendly rosé that shines alongside grilled seafood, fresh shellfish, light rice dishes and goat's cheese salads. It also excels as a standalone aperitif, best served well-chilled between 6 and 8°C to fully express its aromatic brilliance.

If you're looking to buy a premium Spanish rosé wine online, the Barbadillo Rosé 2023 captures the essence of Cádiz in every pour — Atlantic freshness, centuries of winemaking expertise and a modern, crowd-pleasing style. Available now at Mercado 46 with European delivery.

The Winery

Founded in 1821

Bodegas Barbadillo is one of the most iconic and historic wineries in Jerez de la Frontera, founded in 1821 by Benigno Barbadillo. With over two centuries of history, the winery has become an undisputed benchmark for Sherry wines and a pioneer in the revival of still white wines from the Marco de Jerez. Its most widely recognised wine is Castillo de San Diego, one of Spain's best-selling white wines for decades, crafted from the Palomino Fino grape. Yet Barbadillo's reputation extends across its full range of fortified wines: Manzanilla, Fino, Amontillado, Oloroso, Palo Cortado and Cream, all produced using the traditional criaderas y soleras system, which allows wines to undergo biological or oxidative ageing over many years — sometimes decades. Among its most acclaimed labels is Manzanilla Solear, one of the most prestigious Manzanillas from Sanlúcar de Barrameda, aged under a veil of flor yeast in cellars close to the Guadalquivir river. The winery also produces highly sought-after limited releases such as Manzanilla en Rama Solear, prized by connoisseurs for its raw freshness and unfiltered character. Barbadillo owns vineyards in Pago Balbaína and other key zones within the Marco de Jerez, working with native varieties including Palomino Fino, Pedro Ximénez and Moscatel. The winery's philosophy blends deep respect for centuries-old Jerez tradition with a commitment to innovation and the promotion of Sherry wines in both domestic and international markets. At Mercado 46, we offer a carefully curated selection of Bodegas Barbadillo wines, available to order online with delivery across Europe.
