Barbadillo Blanco de Albariza is a terroir-driven white wine crafted by the legendary Bodegas Barbadillo from 100% Palomino Fino grapes grown on albariza — the chalky, calcium-rich soils that define the finest vineyards of southern Spain's Marco de Jerez. For those looking to buy premium Spanish white wine online, this is a beautifully expressive, food-friendly bottle that speaks directly of its Atlantic coastal origins.

Fermented at a carefully controlled 17°C for ten days using indigenous yeasts, the winemaking is designed to let the fruit and terroir do the talking. At just 12% ABV, this is an elegant, refreshing white with a genuine sense of place — an increasingly rare quality in modern winemaking.

In the glass, it pours a pale straw yellow with lively green highlights. The bouquet is delicate yet engaging: white pear and fresh citrus take centre stage, supported by a whisper of white blossom and the kind of subtle minerality you only get from true albariza soils. On the palate, the mouthfeel is light and fluid, with crisp acidity and a vivid Palomino fruit character that feels immediate and honest. The finish is clean, dry and distinctly saline — a hallmark of the Atlantic-influenced terroir of Sanlúcar de Barrameda and one of the most compelling signatures of Palomino Fino white wine from Cádiz.

This is a wine built for the table. Pair it with freshly shucked oysters, grilled sea bass, prawns with sea salt, or simply enjoy it as an aperitif alongside olives and charcuterie. Its clean salinity and bright acidity make it a natural partner for all manner of seafood.

With a Guía Peñín score of 86 points and the backing of one of Spain's most respected bodegas — founded in 1821 and now present in over 50 international markets — Barbadillo Blanco de Albariza is a confident, well-priced expression of what Andalusian white wine can be. Available now at Mercado 46 with European delivery.

The Winery

Founded in 1821

Bodegas Barbadillo is one of the most iconic and historic wineries in Jerez de la Frontera, founded in 1821 by Benigno Barbadillo. With over two centuries of history, the winery has become an undisputed benchmark for Sherry wines and a pioneer in the revival of still white wines from the Marco de Jerez. Its most widely recognised wine is Castillo de San Diego, one of Spain's best-selling white wines for decades, crafted from the Palomino Fino grape. Yet Barbadillo's reputation extends across its full range of fortified wines: Manzanilla, Fino, Amontillado, Oloroso, Palo Cortado and Cream, all produced using the traditional criaderas y soleras system, which allows wines to undergo biological or oxidative ageing over many years — sometimes decades. Among its most acclaimed labels is Manzanilla Solear, one of the most prestigious Manzanillas from Sanlúcar de Barrameda, aged under a veil of flor yeast in cellars close to the Guadalquivir river. The winery also produces highly sought-after limited releases such as Manzanilla en Rama Solear, prized by connoisseurs for its raw freshness and unfiltered character. Barbadillo owns vineyards in Pago Balbaína and other key zones within the Marco de Jerez, working with native varieties including Palomino Fino, Pedro Ximénez and Moscatel. The winery's philosophy blends deep respect for centuries-old Jerez tradition with a commitment to innovation and the promotion of Sherry wines in both domestic and international markets. At Mercado 46, we offer a carefully curated selection of Bodegas Barbadillo wines, available to order online with delivery across Europe.
