Mathilde Chapoutier Sélection
Mathilde Chapoutier Sélection is the personal project of Mathilde Chapoutier, the eighth generation of the legendary family that has been producing benchmark wines in the Rhône Valley since 1808. Rather than sheltering under the family winery's reputation, Mathilde chose to forge her own path to Provence, where she fell in love with the vineyards at the foot of the Sainte-Victoire mountains and acquired the Grand Ferrage estate, giving rise to a range of wines that blends family excellence with a fresh and contemporary vision. Her philosophy is clear: wine is the fruit of pleasure, a permanent exploration and a journey never completed. Educated in business administration in China, Mathilde brings that spirit of discovery to every bottle, reflected in the compass she designed herself for the labels — a symbol of the unbreakable bond between wine and travel. In the terroir of AOC Côtes de Provence, the vines are farmed organically and harvested at night to preserve the natural balance of the grapes. The fruit is quickly transported to the winery, where it is cold-fermented in stainless steel tanks after a brief cold skin maceration and direct pressing — a technique that ensures maximum aromatic expression in her rosés. Among her most notable cuvées are Orsuro, named after the cold northeastern winds that blow through Bouches-du-Rhône — known in Provençal as Orsuro, a tribute to the Great Bear — and Sainte-Victoire Grand Ferrage, a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault from plots with poor limestone and clayey sandstone soils, belonging to the Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire sub-appellation. Her wines have earned one star in the Guide Hachette des Vins and received favourable recognition at the International Wine Challenge. A project championing a hedonistic, Mediterranean and gastronomic wine culture, ideal for enjoying in good company.
