4 Kilos Vinícola is a winery founded in 2004 in Mallorca by Francesc Grimalt and Sergio Caballero, two friends united by a radically honest vision of wine. The name itself tells the story: "four kilos" refers to the initial investment of four million pesetas, perfectly capturing the artisanal, no-nonsense spirit that has defined the project from day one. Based in Felanitx, in the interior of the island, 4 Kilos crafts author wines from indigenous Mallorcan varieties such as Callet and Fogoneu, at times blended with Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Their philosophy is straightforward: minimal intervention, maximum expression of terroir. They work with low-yield vineyards and apply careful viticulture that places quality firmly above quantity. Among their most celebrated wines is the 4 Kilos itself, their flagship release made from Callet and Fogoneu. They also produce 12 Volts, a more accessible wine that has won over everyday drinkers and critics alike. Another standout is Gallinas & Focas, a more playful and experimental label that reflects the founders' irreverent personalities.
